What's Your Angle?

Ever have those thoughts that nag at you, yelling "hey you there's more to me than you're letting out". That's the way this article started out, I was going to write a post for another blog (Cowboy's Thoughts) about the angles in team roping when the thought started to get legs and grow.  The more I was thinking about the other article, the more I felt of how angles affect our entire existence.
In the morning, we get up...our first angle.  From there it just continues.  Eating, our arms and hands are working at angles, is usually another.  You're in a conversation with someone and make an interesting point and then they say or think "what's you angle".  Those are just to get you started, now just look around at the angles that surround you. There's lots, right?
Have you heard the phrase "behind the eight ball".  Do you wonder what it means?  It means you got a bad angle and that your next shot will be very difficult.  This phrase doesn't just relate to billiards but also to situations like "he's behind the eight ball on this one".  Means the person is in a difficult situation and will have a hard time finding away out.
Don't get me wrong, I still have lots of respect for the other geometric forms.  Like the circle, we have a circle of friends. In that circle you are in the middle which is another angle.  The square has angles in every corner. The triangle even starts with angle in its name.
So what's your angle?  Look around angles everywhere almost like the air we breathe. What would the world be like without angles.
I still think I will write the article on angles in team roping but now I have to find a new title.

Don't Mess with an Engineer!

"A Shy Young Engineer Student Goes to a Bar and Sees A Beautiful gal Sitting Alone.
He Gathers Some Courage, Goes To Her Table and Asks: "Would you Mind If I Sit Here Beside you?"
She Responds Loudly: "No I Don't Wanna Spend The Night With you !"...Everyone At Bar Turned and Stared at the guy
Guy Shocked and Embarrassed Goes Back to His Table
After Few Minutes The Gal Slowly Walks To Him, Apologizes and Says "You See I'm A Student In Psychology and Studying How People Respond To Embarrassing Situations!"
Guy Responds Loudly "What! $3000...That's Too Much!"
Everyone Stares at the gal
Guy Silently Whispers "Do not mess with an engineer!"

Happiness Is The Road

Happiness is the road.
So, enjoy every moment.
Stop waiting for school to end, for a return to school, to lose ten pounds, to gain ten pounds, for work to begin, to get married, for Friday evening, for Sunday morning, waiting for a new car, for your mortgage to be paid off, for spring, for summer, for fall, for winter, for the first or the fifteenth of the month, for your song to be played on the radio, to die, to be reborn… before deciding to be happy.
Happiness is a voyage, not a destination.
There is no better time to be happy than… NOW!
Live and enjoy the moment.

Avoiding Disaster

I am sure everyone is like me in that they have many fond memories stored on their computer.  Have you got a plan in place to ensure that you will continue to have them after a hard drive failure. You say yeah, I've got that covered. Same as I was, I had a backup but what happened caused me to lose about a year and a half of precious photos and videos that I'll never get back.  I had a hard drive failure on my computer and while trying to recover a new drive with a backup from My passport external drive the power went out corrupting some areas on the external drive.  Hence the loss of memories and a lot of files.
So I changed my thinking on backups and recovery a lot. Now I keep identical backups on two external drives, one that stays connected and one that is stored and only used when a new backup is created. It was like a Murphy's Law thing...what can go wrong, will go wrong. Also, I use Acronis True Image now instead of Windows backup software which seems to be more resilient to power problems.
So if you have lots of photos and videos that you don't want to lose, develop a plan for your backups to make sure you have them as long as you wish.  I hope my disaster and loss saves some of you from the same happening.
Hang on to those memories!!!
